Thom Banks, CAE FASID

Executive Director

Thom Banks is the chief executive responsible for CIDQ's overall strategic and operational leadership while serving as a primary spokesperson to advance the organization’s global mission to establish, maintain and assess standards for competence in the application of empirically validated practices in the interior design profession.

Formerly vice president with ForrestPerkins, a leader in luxury hotel, resorts and multi-residential projects, Thom was also Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Director of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) from 1998-2014.  An honorary fellow of ASID, one of only 30 in the Society’s 40-year history, Thom was also the inaugural President of the Interior Design Continuing Education Council and a founding board member of the National Academy of Environmental Design. Earlier in his career, he worked at the American Institute of Architects in Washington, D.C.

Thom led the creation of REGREEN, a partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council, to create the nation’s first set of residential remodeling guidelines with accompanying educational courses, web tools and a certificate program. This resulted in more than 250,000 downloads and 2 million site visits.

Thom holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.


Maureen Lederer

As Senior Director, Business Operations, Maureen manages the daily workflow and senior staff activities within the organization’s headquarters, as well as the outsourced vendors, to ensure delivery of consistent, high quality projects for CIDQ.

With over 14 years experience working with both association and private sector businesses, Maureen has worked with a variety of audiences from Fortune 100 CEOs, to business owners/operators, to consumers, technicians and students. Whether dealing with associations or for-profit businesses, Maureen’s goal is consistent: To grow and prosper an organization and the people it serves.

Prior to joining CIDQ, Maureen was a principal with a multi-management consulting firm, The Association Partners (TAPS). Maureen served as Executive Director for TAPS clients, where she developed and transitioned small and midsize, volunteer run organizations to independent, stand-alone associations. Clients included the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (NWCOA) and the National Association of Plumbing Specialty Distributors (NAPSD). With TAPS, Maureen also served as Chief Operating Officer for several start up businesses, managing the implementation of best business practices and overseeing their daily administration. In a consulting capacity with TAPS, Maureen created and implemented programs for successful business development and strategic planning.

Maureen has worked in public relations and communications for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she served as Manager of Special Communications and Special Projects, as well as for the American Association of Nurserymen (AAN), as Director of Education and Publications. Maureen also served as a Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Manager for the high-tech corporation, U.S. Order, which was ultimately purchased by VISA. Prior to The Association Partners, Maureen owned and operated a full service restaurant that specialized in producing private and corporate special events. A native of Northern Virginia, Maureen studied communications and print media at NVCC, George Mason University and George Washington Universit


Lori (Barker) Cummings

Exam Manager Practicum

As Exam Manager for CIDQ, Lori is responsible for the development, administration, and advancement of the NCIDQ Practicum Exam. Lori also supports the Ambassador Program for the organization and the leadership development efforts.

Prior to joining CIDQ, Lori spent five years at Association Management Center (AMC), a management company for nonprofit organizations located in Chicago, IL. At AMC, Lori worked directly with the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID), and the American Association for Neuroscience Nursing (AANN). During her tenure, she specialized in test development and administration, certification board governance, program management, and leadership development for NAHQ and AAHID. As a Senior Operations Manager, Lori oversaw the development and implementation of several initiatives that reinforced organizational culture and promoted growth.

Throughout her career, Lori has had a passion for helping organizations achieve their missions and demonstrate their value to their membership, their certificants, and to the wider community. Lori also recognizes that organizational goals cannot be accomplished without the dedication of committed volunteers. Lori holds a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, IN.


Rohan Mahadevan

Rohan Mahadevan joined CIDQ in June 2014 to manage processing and evaluating candidate applications as well as assisting candidates with the process of applying for the NCIDQ Exam.

Prior to joining CIDQ, Rohan worked in certification both with farms and speech-language pathologists.

In his spare time, Rohan uses his BFA in English as a music writer for local blogs. He enjoys going to concerts and hanging out with friends.


Ray Resendez

Customer Experience Manager

Ray Resendez has been busy ever since joining CIDQ in November 2000, maintaining more than 26,000 Certificate holders' records. Ray also serves as a fulfillment manager and manages CIDQ's inventory. He also verifies completion of the exam for each candidate, sending notifications to jurisdictions and associations. Along with these duties, Ray manages the Certificate renewal process. If you have an CIDQ wallet card, chances are very good that it came from Ray.

Ray is originally from San Antonio Texas, but was raised in Indiana. For fun, Ray enjoys catching up on the movies he missed in the theater by renting them on DVD. He enjoys spending time with friends and going to the gym.


Kimberly Woods

Executive Assistant

Kimberly Woods joined CIDQ in June 2016 as their Executive Assistant.  Kimberly will be busy supporting our Board of Directors and Executive Director, as well as all other office staff.

Prior to working for CIDQ, Kimberly was an Administrative and Marketing Assistant for an energy consulting company in Ohio.  Kimberly received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Loyola University Maryland, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Global Studies from the University of Toledo.

In her free time, she enjoys watching and playing sports.  As a recent transplant from Ohio, Kimberly is looking forward to exploring and enjoying all that the Washington, DC area has to offer.
